Called to Mission
being and making disciples
We envision a city where everyone has seen the transforming power of Jesus. To accomplish this, we want to unite people to Jesus and to one another as we extend gospel hope and wholeness in the Oldest City. We want those who don't know Jesus to become followers of Jesus who then come alongside others who don't know Jesus ... we want to be and make disciples.
Jesus came to rescue, renew, and restore the creation (which includes us!) to the Father, making peace by the blood of his cross (Colossians 1:19-20). Just as the Father sent the Son, so too he sends us for the purpose of seeing all people and all creation reconciled to the Father through the Son by the power of His Spirit.
As those who have been reconciled to God by faith in Christ Jesus, our mission is to hold out that same grace, love, mercy, and peace to others, calling them into a life lived by the grace of Jesus, the resurrection power of the Spirit, and for the glory (celebration) of the Father (2 Corinthians 5:14-21).
For this to happen, it requires more than any one person or any one church, but it certainly includes each one of us. We want to see the grace of God radiate out to those who don't know Jesus, to be followers of Jesus (disciples) who come alongside others to follow Jesus in such a way that they are coming alongside others to know Jesus. In this way, others will see the transforming power of Jesus.
