Who We Are

We are, quite simply, Christians who love this city and are called to serve her through the local church. We want to be, and come alongside others in becoming, followers of Jesus Christ, in the all sufficient grace of God through the local church, to the all supreme glory of God in all cultures, in St Augustine and wherever we find ourselves.

The people of God are to be a blessing wherever they are found (Gen 12:2-3), and are called to seek the good of their city (Jeremiah 29:7).  In this way, we desire to enjoy and embody the Gospel for the glory of God and the good of St. Augustine.

The gospel means freedom - freedom from who we are without God (rebellious sinners), to be who we are in Christ (children of God).  It’s freedom from fear, freedom from slavery to sin, freedom from self. As we grasp this, we are able to enjoy life in a way that only the gospel can deliver.

Part of that enjoyment is embodying it for others to see, hear, know and experience. We want to demonstrate the love, grace, mercy and power of Christ in word and deed in St. Augustine. We want others to know the God of grace and to begin to glimpse His glory in the face of Christ (II Corinthians 4:6).

We are part of a network of like-minded churches that currently stretches across north and central Florida, with ever expanding involvement through church planting and intentional relationships. These churches are committed to, among other things, building up the Body of Christ and declaring the glory of God through sound Biblical teaching.

We are affiliated with the Evangelical Free Churches of America (EFCA, or E-Free). The EFCA is an association of some 1,300 autonomous churches nationally and internationally, united by a mutual commitment to serve our Lord Jesus Christ with the guidance of the Holy Spirit and obedience to the Word of God.

“Evangelical” refers to our commitment to the proclamation and living of the gospel, and to the authority of the Scriptures as being inerrant in the original writings and the only sufficient guide to faith and practice.

“Free” refers to the interdependence enjoyed by the local churches to pursue their unique ministry while remaining in a larger fellowship of gospel-committed churches. Each local church body depends upon the active participation of every member and attender in the outworking of ministry.
