enjoying and embodying the Gospel for the glory God and the good of St. Augustine

Who We Are & How We Live

Who We are

We find our identity, significance, meaning and purpose in Jesus. By putting your faith (whole-hearted trust) in him, you are united to him, all he is and all he has done and is doing. In Jesus, you are forgiven and accepted, rescued out of darkness into light, from death into life, and from fear into freedom. He is the fullness of God's love and grace to all who believe.

This is the gospel, or "good news," and it's the story of Jesus. Coquina is a people who are caught up in his story of redemption, of God's rescue, renewal, and restoration of all of creation through the transformative person and work of Jesus Christ. We love Jesus and St. Augustine, and envision a city where everyone has seen the transforming power of Jesus as we extend his gospel hope and wholeness.

Because of God's grace to us in Jesus, we enjoy being:

  • Family - Children of God who love and care for one another as brothers and sisters.

  • Missionaries - Sent by God to see all things restored in peace to Him through Jesus.

  • Servants - Who joyfully serve God as we lovingly serve others.

  • Learners - Who take responsibility for our own growth and walk alongside others that they might follow Jesus.

Because the gospel transforms who we are, it changes how we live: our "doing" comes out of our "being." To be united to Jesus is to have a renewed identity and purpose. We live this out in ways that show who Jesus is, what he has done, and what he is doing.

We seek to live life as family, learning and serving together in Jesus' mission by being his followers (disciples) and coming alongside others in becoming disciples. We desire to aid and equip people to gather in authentic communities that are grown out of our everyday lives, where sacrificial service invites people to “taste and see that God is good” that new and future generations would see and know the transforming power of Jesus.
