Prayer strikes the winning blow (week 1)

Luke Brodersen

Our Goal: To labor in knowing and doing everything Scripture says about prayer.

Bible Verse & Quote on Prayer

“The Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans.” (Romans 8:26)

“Prayer is striking the winning blow ... service is gathering up the results.” - Oswald Chambers

Congregational Bible Prayer

A Prayer from Psalm 3:3-6, 8

“You, O Lord, are a shield for me,
My glory and the One who lifts up my head.
I cried to the Lord with my voice,
And He heard me from His holy hill.
I lay down and slept; I awoke, for the Lord sustained me.
I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people
Who have set themselves against me all around.
Salvation belongs to the Lord.
Your blessing is upon Your people.”

Bible Prayer Story

“Elisha answered, “Do not fear, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them.” And Elisha prayed, and said, “Lord, I pray, open his eyes that he may see.” Then the Lord opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw. And behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.
(2 Kings 6:16-17)

Prayer Principal

Praise is acknowledging God‘s character and way. It is stating who he is and what he does.

Prayer for the Nations

Lord, we pray for your Church in Europe, that all those who believe in your Name would “lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence” (1 Timothy 2:1-2). To that end, we pray for:

Albania (President Bouteflika)
Father, thank you for opening Albania to the gospel after years of being closed. May this openness let it be in Albania as it is in Heaven.

Andorra (Prime Minister Martí)
Jesus, we pray that the vast number Andorrans that are nominal in their Catholic faith would experience you in a life changing way and help others to know you in the same way.

Austria (President Van der Bellen)
Holy Spirit, multiply the faith of your church among the Austrian people who are quickly becoming indifferent to faith and distrusting of religion.

Belarus (President Lukashenko)
Lord, strengthen Belarus Christians and establish your church in Belarus amid persecution from government and non-believers.

Belgium (King Philippe)
Father, we pray that you would revitalize your church in Belgium to be the hands and feet of Christ, so that others would see their good works and trust in you.

Bosnia & Herzegovina (President Dodik)
Jesus, only you can heal the wounds left by the many conflicts over the years. We pray that you would bring peace and reconciliation through your gospel to this land of broken and hurting people that are divided by hatred.

Bulgaria (President Radev)
Holy Spirit, thank you for making Bulgaria relatively open the past several years. We pray that you would rejuvenate the Orthodox Church and bring many to faith.

Croatia (President Grabar-Kitarović)
Lord, we pray that the Croatian Church would flourish and boldly proclaim your gospel of love and peace to their neighbors.

Cyprus (President Anastasiades)
Father, we pray that you would bring unity to this country and her people. Strengthen your church so that their faith may multiply and reach many more beyond their borders.

Czech Republic (President Zeman)
Jesus, send out faithful preachers to make disciples in the Czech Republic, where many are searching after years of straying from Christian tradition.

Denmark (Queen Margrethe II)
Holy Spirit, restore the ritualistic & legalistic church in Denmark, so that they may experience you in a life changing way and reach their spiritually lost neighbors.

Estonia (President Kaljulaid)
Lord, we pray for a new, personal & deep movement of faith in Estonia as she continues to successfully transition from Soviet rule to a more open existence.

Congregational Personal Prayers

Josh Freeman (Togo, West Africa)
Greg, Christina, and Colin Willson (Redeemer Church Manchester)
Gene and Susan Coleman (serving with TEAM in Italy)
Kathy Sanchez (ESOL ministry)
Reverb Church
Coquina Missional Communities

Command of Christ

“But why do you call Me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do the things which I say? Whoever comes to Me, and hears My sayings and does them, I will show you whom he is like: He is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently against that house, and could not shake it, for it was founded on the rock. ” (Luke 6:46-48)

Confession for Forgiveness

“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (1 John 1:9)

“The Lord bless you and keep you;
The Lord make His face shine upon you,
And be gracious to you;
The Lord lift up His countenance upon you,
And give you peace.” (Numbers 6:24-26)
