Proclaim Christ at Any Cost: International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church (week 44)

Luke Brodersen

Our Goal: To labor in knowing and doing everything Scripture says about prayer.

Bible Verse & Quote on Prayer

“We ought always to give thanks to God for you, brothers and sisters, as is right, because your faith is growing abundantly, and the love of every one of you for one another is increasing. Therefore we ourselves boast about you in the churches of God for your steadfastness and faith in all your persecutions and in the afflictions that you are enduring.” (2 Thessalonians 1: 3-4)

“Missions is not the ultimate goal of the church. Worship is. Missions exists because worship doesn't.”
- John Piper

Congregational Bible Prayer - A Prayer from Psalm 32

“Blessed is the one whose transgression is forgiven,
whose sin is covered.
Blessed is the man against whom the Lord counts no iniquity,
and in whose spirit there is no deceit.

For when I kept silent, my bones wasted away
through my groaning all day long.
For day and night your hand was heavy upon me;
my strength was dried up as by the heat of summer.

I acknowledged my sin to you,
and I did not cover my iniquity;
I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord,”
and you forgave the iniquity of my sin.

You are a hiding place for me;
you preserve me from trouble;
you surround me with shouts of deliverance.”

Congregational Personal Prayers

Father, we pray for our Coquina church family, asking that by your grace all would be “worthy of his calling and may fulfill every resolve for good and every work of faith by his power, so that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified,” (2 Thessalonians 1: 11-12) and that you would meet the needs of those we pray for, so that none may be lacking. To this end, we pray for:

Command of Christ

“The Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost...I tell you, if [my disciples] were silent, the very stones would cry out” (Luke 19: 10, 40)

Confession for Forgiveness

“You will not delight in sacrifice, or I would give it; you will not be pleased with a burnt offering. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise.” (Psalm 51: 16-17)

Benediction

“Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” (Joshua 1: 9)
