God Will not be Shaken (week 39)

Luke Brodersen

Our Goal: To labor in knowing and doing everything Scripture says about prayer.

Bible Verse & Quote on Prayer

“I will say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.” (Psalm 91: 2)

“It is utterly crucial that it out darkness we affirm the wise, strong hand of God to hold us, even when we have no strength to hold Him.” - John Piper

Congregational Bible Prayer - A Prayer from Psalm 146

“Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord, O my soul!
I will praise the Lord as long as I live;
I will sing praises to my God while I have my being.

Put not your trust in princes,
in a man, in whom there is no salvation.
When his breath departs, he returns to the earth;
on that very day his plans perish.

Blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob,
whose hope is in the Lord his God,
who made heaven and earth,
who keeps faith forever;
who executes justice for the oppressed,
who gives food to the hungry.

The Lord sets the prisoners free;
the Lord opens the eyes of the blind.
The Lord lifts up those who are bowed down;
the Lord loves the righteous.
The Lord watches over the sojourners;
he upholds the widow and the fatherless.

The Lord will reign forever, God to all generations.
Praise the Lord!”

Prayer for the Nations

Father, we pray for your Church and the 1,324,171,354 people of India (over 4x more than that of the USA) spread out across 37 different States and union territories. You are the Lord of the Harvest, and we trust the salvation of those who have not yet heard of you or trusted you is in your hands; however, we know that this work is ours to share in, so we ask that our prayers, our support of foreign missions, and our own actions to “go therefore and make disciples of all nations” (Matthew 28: 19) would be fruitful so that it may be in India as it is in Heaven. To this end, we pray for the nations and people of:

Andaman and Nicobar Islands (Lt. Governor Devendra Kumar Joshi)
Population: 380,520 (21.7% Christian)
Lord, we praise you that in this Hindu territory, Christianity has grown to comprise a large minority. However, there are still those that do not know you. We pray that you would provide the means for the gospel to reach the Sentinelese people of the Andaman Islands.

Andhra Pradesh (Governor Biswabhusan Harichandan)
Population: 49,386,799 (1.38% Christian)
Holy Spirit, we pray that you would reveal use your church to spread the gospel to the 121.8 million visitors that annually come to Andhra Pradesh as tourists or on pilgrimage.

Arunachal Pradesh (Governor B.D. Mishra)
Population: 1,382,611 (30.26% Christian)
Jesus, we praise you for bringing so many people in Arunachal Pradesh to saving faith in you in recent years. There are now more Christians than followers of any other religion in this state, and we pray for continued growth through faithful discipleship!

Assam (Governor Jagdish Mukhi)
Population: 31,169,272 (3.74% Christian)
Father, we pray that through the natural beauty found across this region thanks to extensive conservation efforts, that you would reveal yourself to those who have not trusted you and break through the barriers and strongholds that have kept evangelism almost entirely fruitless in this region for nearly two centuries (Luke 19: 40).

Bihar (Governor Fagu Chauhan)
Population: 103,804,637 (0.12% Christian)
Lord, we pray that the liberating, saving, restoring power of the gospel would impact the millions of Bihar, referred to as the “graveyard of missions.”

Chandigarh (Administrator V.P. Singh Badnore)
Population: 1,055,450 (0.83% Christian)
Holy Spirit, Chandigarh may be known as the “happiest city in India,” but we know that no ultimate joy can be found apart from you. Break down the barriers separate Chandigarh from you, and show them the well that will not run dry and the joy that is everlasting, found only in your salvation.

Chhattisgarh (Governor Anusuiya Uikey)
Population: 25,545,198 (1.92% Christian)
Jesus, we pray against the evil that still holds the hearts of millions in Chhattisgarh, as many still practice witchcraft and often women are accused and persecuted under false accusations of witchcraft. Break every chain and set this state free from Satan’s deception.

Dadra and Nagar Haveli (Administrator Praful Khoda Patel)
Population: 342,853 (1.48% Christian)
Father, we pray that you would send faithful disciples to the tribal groups that make up 62% of the population of Dadra and Nagar Haveli.

Daman and Diu (Administrator Praful Khoda Patel)
Population: 242,911 (1.16% Christian)
Lord, we pray that you would encourage your church in Daman and Diu that they may live in such a way that others would know Christ by their actions, speech, and the love that they have for one another.

Delhi (Lt. Governor Anil Baijal)
Population: 16,787,941 (0.87% Christian)
Holy Spirit, we pray that you would compel your worldwide Church to share and demonstrate the gospel in the slums of this influential region.

Goa (Governor Mridula Sinha)
Population: 1,458,545 (25.10% Christian)
Jesus, we pray that the leaders of this region would act to abolish the drug trafficking and child prostitution that hinders so many from knowing you.

Gujarat (Governor Acharya Dev Vrat)
Population: 60,383,628 (0.52% Christian)
Father, we praise you for the rapid church growth this region is experiencing (from 0.1% to 0.52% since 2011), and we pray for expanded freedom of religion in Gujarat.

Congregational Personal Prayers

Father, we pray for our Coquina church family, asking that by your grace “the sharing of [their] faith may become effective for the full knowledge of every good thing that is in us for the sake of Christ.” (Philemon 1: 6)

Command of Christ

“The Law and the Prophets were until John; since then the good news of the kingdom of God is preached, and everyone forces his way into it. But it is easier for heaven and earth to pass away than for one dot of the Law to become void.” (Luke 16: 16-17)

Confession for Forgiveness

“Do not remember against us our former iniquities; let your compassion come speedily to meet us.” (Psalm 79: 8)

Benediction

“May the Lord direct your hearts to the love of God and to the steadfastness of Christ. The Lord is faithful. He will establish you and guard you against the evil one.” (2 Thessalonians 3: 5, 3)
