Our Goal: To labor in knowing and doing everything Scripture says about prayer.
Bible Verse & Quote on Prayer
“Now I pray to God that you do no evil, not that we should appear approved, but that you should do what is honorable, though we may seem disqualified.” (2 Corinthians 13:7)
“We pray when there's nothing else we can do, but God wants us to pray before we do anything at all.” - Oswald Chambers
Congregational Bible Prayer
A Prayer from Psalm 4:1, 6-8
“Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness!
You have relieved me in my distress;
Have mercy on me, and hear my prayer.
There are many who say,
“Who will show us any good?”
Lord, lift up the light of Your countenance upon us.
You have put gladness in my heart,
More than in the season that their grain and wine increased.
I will both lie down in peace, and sleep;
For You alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety.”
Bible Prayer Story
“Now the word of the Lord came to Jonah the son of Amittai, saying, “Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and cry out against it; for their wickedness has come up before Me.” But Jonah arose to flee to Tarshish from the presence of the Lord...” (Jonah 1:1-3)
When you confess your sins to God and others, you bring sins into the light and Satan & your flesh start to lose their grip. What a relief!
Prayer for the Nations
Dear Lord, we pray for your Church in Europe, that all those who are under persecution for following you would persevere and continue to “be an example... in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, [and] in purity.” (1 Timothy 4:12). To that end, we pray for:
Faroe Islands (Queen Margrethe II of Denmark)
Father, we pray for wisdom for leaders of the Faroe Islands as they consider seeking more independence. Thank you for beginning a fresh faith movement among the Faroe Islanders.
Finland (President Niinistö)
Holy Spirit, bring new expressions of faith to this nominally-Lutheran nation and use them as an instrument to reach the many peoples in the former Soviet Union; release them from the strongholds of humanism, secularism, and materialism.
France (President Macron)
Jesus, disconnect evangelism from right-wing political ideology. Violence in the name of Christianity, though in the past, is not forgotten here and many are still distrusting of the church. Reveal the meekness and comfort of Christ through your people to aid continued growth among your Church here.
Germany (President Steinmeier)
Lord, your Word has been discounted and abused for decades among the German people. We pray that you would strengthen Biblically qualified leaders to reach Germany with the good news for all of life.
Gibraltar (Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom)
Father, bless the work of the few evangelical congregations here. Encourage them to express your gospel to their nominal Catholic neighbors, the many foreign visitors and tourists, and the Muslims who are working and living among them.
Greece (President Pavlopoulos)
Holy Spirit, now that you have used economic and social upheaval to shake the foundations of Greece, use these circumstances to bring the Greeks to a saving faith in Jesus. Bless the work of evangelicals, as Greece is now more legally open.
Holy See & Vatican City (Pope Francis)
Jesus, we pray for the Pope, who is the earthly head of the second-largest religious denomination on earth (behind Sunni Islam). Renew and revive those who are nominal or unbelieving among the 1.2 billion Catholics worldwide, that they may be evidences of grace to their neighbors and help many more from around the world come to faith in Jesus.
Hungary (President Áder)
Lord, Hungary is another European nation that has lost contact with the good news of Jesus. We know it breaks your heart to see so many turn to secularism, materialism, alcoholism, and false religion, so we pray that you would work to redeem and restore Hungary to yourself.
Iceland (President Jóhannesson)
Father, as migration has been changing Icelandic culture, we ask for you to grant wisdom to her leaders. Take Iceland from nominal Christianity to a Spirit-filled way of life that glorifies you and brings many to call upon the name of Jesus.
Congregational Personal Prayers
Dear Lord, we pray for our church family at Coquina, that by your grace we would “stand perfect and complete in all the will of God” (Colossians 4:12).
Command of Christ
“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.” (Matthew 5:16)
Confession for Forgiveness
“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (1 John 1:9)
“Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, and to present you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy, to God our Savior, who alone is wise, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and forever. Amen.” (Jude 1:24-25)
